The decision

A cap set against the water, not against the building

Membership is capped at nine hundred, and at sixty for SOURCE. The number was not chosen for scarcity; it was arrived at by dividing 1 715 m² of water surface and fourteen treatment rooms by a busy Saturday.

A resort that sells memberships to its neighbours is making a promise to two audiences at once: to the people staying in the eighty-eight keys, who have already paid for the water in their room rate, and to the people who drive in from Melides and Carvalhal and want the same water on a Tuesday in August. Those two promises conflict on about thirty days a year. The honest way to handle that is to publish where the line falls rather than discover it at the gate.

So the line is published. No more than one hundred and fifty members are on the estate at any one time. Between 1 July and 31 August no more than sixty member admissions a day are issued, and the entry tier does not include August at all — it is priced as a nine-month-and-three-week membership and should be read that way. The two upper tiers hold August, which is most of what the step in price buys.

Everything else follows from the same arithmetic. Studio One has ten reformers, so a reformer class has ten places and will never have eleven. The lap pool has six lanes. MIRANTE seats thirty-four and eight more at the counter, in one sitting, five nights a week. Those are physical facts about a building, and a membership is a published position in the queue for them.

Three passes

A pass is read at the gate as a day's access to the water, the circuit and the club. Prices are indicative; the figure confirmed when you book is the figure charged.

DAY PASS

€95one person, one day

  • The nine bodies of water, including the thermal pool at 34–36 °C and the cold plunge at 12 °C

  • The Athletic Club floor, all seven zones, with the induction if you want the free weights
  • One class place where a place is still free 48 hours ahead
  • Towel, locker, soap, and a 600 ml bottle filled at the club desk
  • Treatments, which are bookable at the full menu price seven days ahead
  • Court hire and coaching, charged at €30 a padel court-hour and €34 a tennis court-hour
  • 1 July to 31 August, when day passes are not issued

TEN-VISIT CARD

€780ten days · €78 a day

Any ten days inside twelve months of the first one. One named holder and one named guest.

  • Two names on the card, used together or separately; a day used by either name is one of the ten
  • A booking window of 7 days for classes rather than 48 hours
  • 10 per cent off the treatment menu on a day the card is used
  • 1 July to 31 August, as with the day pass
  • Carry-over past twelve months from the first use

The card's price is credited in full against a joining fee if you take an annual tier within thirty days of the last visit.

SUMMER PASS

€1 9501 June to 30 September

The only pass that holds July and August. Issued against the daily member cap, so it is limited by the calendar rather than by a number.

  • Unlimited days across the four months, 08:00 to 20:00
  • July and August, counted against the sixty member admissions a day
  • Two guest days a month at €45 a guest
  • 15 per cent off the treatment menu and court hire at €20 a padel court-hour
  • A place in the daily release of lap-pool lanes 7 days ahead
  • October to May
  • Treatment credit, which belongs to the annual tiers

A summer pass taken in two consecutive years counts as a year of membership for the waiting list.

All three passes are indicative prices in euros, include service, and are paid in full at issue. A pass is personal and is read against a photograph held at the gate.

Annual

Three tiers

A joining fee is paid once, at the start. The recurring fee is separate from it and is taken over eleven months, not twelve. Both figures are shown; so is the annual total, so the multiplication can be checked.

  • Everything in MERIDIAN, for both named adults
  • Children under 16 at the same address, on the children's pool and the estate programme
  • Class places without a monthly limit, and a place held until 30 minutes before any class starts
  • 20 per cent off the treatment menu and €1 800 of treatment credit a year

  • First refusal on two seats at MIRANTE on any night it serves, released at 18:00 the day before
  • Two nights a year in a Dune Room at €310 a night rather than the published rate
  • A reserved pair of loungers on the main terrace, held until 12:00
  • Your own locker, kept year round, and club kit laundered between visits
  • Four months of freeze a year
  • A third named adult; additional adults at the address take CURRENT at the joining fee waived
  • Treatments at no charge — the credit and the 20 per cent are the mechanism
  • Carry-over of more than €450 of treatment credit at renewal

When the sixty are taken, SOURCE is a waiting list ordered by the date of enquiry. Between twenty and forty places across all three tiers turn over in a year.

Four caps govern the whole scheme and are worth stating on their own: 900 memberships; 60 of them at SOURCE; 150 members on the estate at any one time; and 60 member admissions a day between 1 July and 31 August. When a day reaches its admission figure the gate holds the balance for the eighty-eight keys, and members are told by 18:00 the evening before.

A long resort terrace in the evening: low plaster seating with oatmeal cushions, bronze lanterns, the pines dark behind.

Guests

A guest day is a day, counted and charged

A member brings guests on guest days: four a year at CURRENT, twelve at MERIDIAN, thirty at SOURCE. One guest at a time at the entry tier, two at MERIDIAN, four at SOURCE. The charge is €55, €45 and nothing, in that order, and the day is deducted when the guest is read in at the gate rather than when the booking is made.

A guest has the member's access for that day, minus the member's own rates: the water, the circuit, the club floor, a class place where one is free, towel and locker. Treatments and courts are at the published price. A guest under sixteen uses the children's pool and the estate programme and is counted as half a guest day, which is the one place in this scheme where a number is rounded in your favour.

Guests stay with the member. That is a condition rather than a courtesy: the daily figure of one hundred and fifty on the estate is what makes a Saturday in the thermal pool worth having, and it only holds if each admission has a name against it.

  • Guest days run with the membership year and do not carry into the next one.
  • A guest day used on 1 July to 31 August counts against the sixty admissions for that day.
  • The same guest may come four times a year before being asked to take a pass of their own.
  • A guest day is bookable 7 days ahead and is released back if cancelled before 18:00 the day before.

Enquire

Ask about a membership or a pass

One form, read by the membership desk. You will have a written answer with the figures for your tier, your position if there is a list, and the date the next place is expected.

We reply by email. It is the only channel we publish.

An approximate date is enough. It sets where you sit on a list, if there is one.

This decides nothing about acceptance. It tells us how often you are likely to be here, which is how the daily figures are planned.

Who you are joining

Dunara was conceived, designed and built by CLICK-MART LIMITED, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 14111937, incorporated on 17 May 2022, with D-U-N-S number 228941507 and its registered office at 124 Islwyn Road, Cross Keys, Newport, Wales, NP11 7QJ. The director is Maryam Nadeem.

The membership contract is with that company, and the figures on this page are the company's. We publish the registration because a membership is a twelve-month commitment to a building, and you are entitled to know which company is on the other side of it and to look the record up for yourself.

The only contact channel we publish is [email protected], the enquiry forms on this site, and the registered postal address above. Membership correspondence — the renewal letter, a freeze, a transfer, a cancellation — is in writing to that address, and is answered in writing from it.

Service is included in every figure quoted here and nowhere on the estate is a service charge added. Prices on this page are indicative; the figures written into your membership letter are the ones charged for the term.
